OVERVIEW

ECPR is proud to represent Google and Google Fiber in Texas. We provide a variety of services that support Google’s public policy initiatives throughout the state, including media outreach, messaging, event coordination and relationship building. ECPR works with Google Fiber on media outreach, community relations and marketing initiatives in Austin and San Antonio. We have also worked with the Google Self-Driving Car project (now called Waymo).

CASE STUDY

In front of a large gaggle of national and local media, Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell—along with other City of Austin officials—announced in April 2013 that Google Fiber would make Austin the second city in the nation to have 100x faster Internet connectivity. ECPR worked closely with local officials and Google to make the announcement event a tremendous success and the best-kept secret in town up until the day of the announcement. The atmosphere was electric that day at Brazos Hall as people waited for the official news.

Following the successful announcement of Google Fiber in Austin, we began working on Google Public Policy projects throughout the state. We manage all proactive and reactive media relations in conjunction with the internal Google PR team. Projects include a wide range of focus, from school-centered events—including a very successful Made With Code event at Austin’s Ann Richards School with U.S. Sen. John Cornyn—to the annual announcement of the Doodle4Google contest state winner. We’ve also worked on events featuring the Online Safety Roadshow (online safety for middle schoolers), various product announcements and special events to assist small businesses improve online visibility.

Additionally, we have worked with the Google Self-Driving Car Project (now Waymo) in Austin, including coordinating rides for reporters and elected leaders to community events to allow everyday Austinites to see the cars up close.
