Children’s Hospital Association of Texas

OVERVIEW

The Children’s Hospital Association of Texas (CHAT) has turned to ECPR during several legislative sessions to highlight its advocacy work on behalf of the eight nonprofit children’s hospitals statewide that treat the state’s sickest and most vulnerable children.

ECPR helps CHAT “move the needle” at the Texas Legislature by providing communications support, including social media, e-newsletters to lawmakers and supporters, materials for legislators and media outreach. Strategic outreach is based on lawmakers’ hometowns and the locations of the eight member hospitals.

CASE STUDY

In 2016, CHAT engaged ECPR to refresh the association’s logo and retool the website in preparation for the 85th session of the Texas Legislature.

CHAT needed a fresh and evocative logo, as well as a website that showcased its important work. The design elements had to work in harmony to appeal to multiple audiences, including parents and child advocates, as well as physicians, hospital administrators and legislators, many of whom depend heavily on the CHAT website for important information about issues related to children’s health care. The site had to function as a portal where physicians and hospital administrators could share information and best practices, as well as a source of vital information for parents and families seeking resources for their children.

ECPR guided CHAT through an extensive design and content development phase, where strategies were tested and refined for messaging, graphics and image placement, as well as website traffic flow and user engagement. A compelling video was also developed and is highlighted on the homepage of the website.

This process resulted in a vibrant new logo, the focal point for an engaging, interactive website serving the multiple audiences who look to CHAT for information and guidance.
