Precourt Sports Ventures, owner/operator of Major League Soccer’s Austin FC, engaged ECPR in 2017 to manage the communications and community outreach campaign to bring Major League Soccer (MLS) to Austin. ECPR developed and executed this broad-based campaign—MLS2ATX—to build community support. The campaign included strategic planning, media relations, digital strategy, video production, branding, community outreach and engagement, among others. Ultimately, the comprehensive effort led to a successful Austin City Council vote approving the site for a privately funded soccer park and stadium. In January 2019, MLS announced Austin FC as the newest club in the league. ECPR continues to work with Austin FC as the city’s first major league sports team builds a following.
